Point Sets and Dynamical Systems in the Autocorrelation Topology
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper is about the topologies arising from statistical coincidence on locally finite point sets in locally compact Abelian groups G. The first part defines a uniform topology (autocorrelation topology) and proves that, in effect, the set of all locally finite subsets of G is complete in this topology. Notions of statistical relative denseness, statistical uniform discreteness, and statistical Delone sets are introduced. The second part looks at the consequences of mixing the original and autocorrelation topologies, which together produce a new Abelian group, the autocorrelation group. In particular the relation between its compactness (which leads then to a G-dynamical system) and pure point diffractivity is considered. Finally for generic regular model sets it is shown that the autocorrelation group can be identified with the associated compact group of the cut and project scheme that defines it. For such a set the autocorrelation group, as a Gdynamical system, is a factor of the dynamical local hull. ∗RVM is grateful for the continuing support of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. †Also research assistant at the Institute of Mathematics “Simon Stoilow”, Bucharest, Romania

Quasicrystals and almost periodicity
We introduce a topology T on the space U of uniformly discrete subsets of the Euclidean space. Assume that S in U admits a unique autocorrelation measure. The diffraction measure of S is purely atomic if and only if S is almost periodic in (U,T ). This result relates idealized quasicrystals to almost periodicity. In the context of ergodic point processes, the autocorrelation measure is known to...
متن کاملDynamical Behavior of a Rigid Body with One Fixed Point (Gyroscope). Basic Concepts and Results. Open Problems: a Review
The study of the dynamic behavior of a rigid body with one fixed point (gyroscope) has a long history. A number of famous mathematicians and mechanical engineers have devoted enormous time and effort to clarify the role of dynamic effects on its movement (behavior) – stable, periodic, quasi-periodic or chaotic. The main objectives of this review are: 1) to outline the characteristic features of...
متن کاملFuzzy Relational Matrix-Based Stability Analysis for First-Order Fuzzy Relational Dynamic Systems
In this paper, two sets of sufficient conditions are obtained to ensure the existence and stability of a unique equilibrium point of unforced first-order fuzzy relational dynamical systems by using two different approaches which are both based on the fuzzy relational matrix of the model. In the first approach, the equilibrium point of the system is one of the centers of the related membership fu...
متن کاملA kind of fuzzy upper topology on L-preordered sets
Considering a commutative unital quantale L as the truth value table and using the tool of L-generalized convergence structures of stratified L-filters, this paper introduces a kind of fuzzy upper topology, called fuzzy S-upper topology, on L-preordered sets. It is shown that every fuzzy join-preserving L-subset is open in this topology. When L is a complete Heyting algebra, for every completel...
متن کاملOn invariant sets topology
In this paper, we introduce and study a new topology related to a self mapping on a nonempty set.Let X be a nonempty set and let f be a self mapping on X. Then the set of all invariant subsets ofX related to f, i.e. f := fA X : f(A) Ag P(X) is a topology on X. Among other things,we nd the smallest open sets contains a point x 2 X. Moreover, we find the relations between fand To f . For insta...
